Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) in Mississippi

Who is it for?

Earning the Graduate, REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation is a way to stand out to prospective home buyers and sellers as a REALTOR® who has gained in-depth market knowledge, increased proficiency in a broad array of subjects to enhance professionalism and business success.  If you would like to learn more about the benefits of receiving your (GRI) designation, check out our blog exploring the (GRI) in depth

Once you complete the coursework required in Mississippi, you can apply for the GRI designation through the Mississippi REALTORS® Institute(MRI). As a GRI designee, you’ll have access to a variety of benefits, including use of the GRI logos, marketing materials, customizable flyers, banner ads, and a referral form. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with other GRI designees in Mississippi and across the country.

Requirements

The Mississippi REALTORS® Institute requires a minimum of 60 hours of specific coursework within 5 years to earn the GRI designation and must be instructor led courses through MRI. The courses are divided into three sections: 

The first section requires 24 hours of coursework, with 4 hours in contract law, 4 hours in license law, 8 hours in agency law, 4 hours in the code of ethics, 2 hours in fair housing, and 2 hours in safety. These courses cover the legal and ethical aspects of real estate transactions, including contracts, agency relationships, fair housing laws, and safety considerations. 

The second section requires 16 hours of coursework, with 4 hours in risk management, 4 hours in marketing, 4 hours in best practices, 2 hours in foreclosures, and 2 hours in technology. These courses provide practical skills and knowledge for managing risks, marketing properties, improving business practices, understanding foreclosures, and utilizing technology in real estate. 

The third section requires 20 hours of coursework in any of the following Designation/Certification courses: ABR, SRS, RENE, CRB, C-RETS, The Right Start, and Real Estate Professional Assistant. These courses offer specialized knowledge and skills to enhance your expertise in specific areas of real estate.

  • 4 Hours License Law
  • 8 Hours Agency Law
  • 4 Hours Code of Ethics
  • 2 Hours Fair Housing
  • 2 Hours Safety

16 Hours

  • 4 Hours Risk Management
  • 4 Hours Marketing
  • 4 Hours Best Practices
  • 2 Hours Foreclosures
  • 2 Hours Technology

20 Hours

in any of the following Designation/Certification courses
  • ABR
  • SRS
  • RENE
  • CRB
  • C-RETS
  • The Right Start
  • Real Estate Professional Assistant
